Julius Caesar, 49-44 BC. Denarius (Silver, 17 mm, 3.32 g, 9 h), military mint moving with Caesar in Spain, 46-45. Diademed and draped bust of Venus to left, with cupid on her left shoulder; to left, lituus; to right, scepter. Rev. CAESAR Trophy of Gallic arms; at base to left, bearded Gaulish captive kneeling left, his head turned back to right; at base to right, draped female captive seated to right, in mourning attitude. Babelon (Julia) 12. Crawford 468/2. RBW 1640. Sydenham 1015. A clear and very attractive example. The obverse slightly off center, otherwise, about extremely fine.
